2013 Archives: Fall 2013: Two Upcoming Chapter Events

1) Graphics with SAS Workshop October 14th, 9am-12pm Pitt campus, Crabtree A115 We will have two speakers give lectures on using the (new) graphics tools in SAS. It is not expected that attendees are experts in SAS. Beginning/intro procedures will be covered. Bring your laptops. (This is one of two expected workshops this year.) More info on the workshop can be found hereYou can register here. 2) Fall Mixer November 7th, 5:30-7:30pm Fuel & Fuddle This year’s mixer will have a Statistics Trivia contest with fabulous prizes, hosted by two of your very own chapter representatives from CMU. We’ll likely let people have teams of up to three or four, so start finding your teams and coining your pun-worthy team names!

The Conference on High Dimensional Statistics will be held at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, on April 12, 2013. The one day conference will include lectures by internationally prominent researchers and will be organized by themes. The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers and scientists interested in high dimensional statistics, its applications, and related areas. This includes theoretical and applied statisticians as well as scientists from other fields such as medicine, engineering, computer science and business. The conference will include participation by leading experts as well as junior researchers and graduate students. The conference will create a forum to discuss recent progress and emerging ideas in the area and encourage informal discussions among all the participants. It is anticipated that the conference will have participation from industry, academia, and research institutes.
